The Project

The LIFE project Recovery of Iberian lynx habitat in Moura/Barrancos Site is the result of a partnership between Liga para a Protecção da Natureza (LPN – Lynx Programme), Fauna & Flora International (FFI) and the Centre for Social Research and Intervention, which is an associated centre of Lisbon’s University Institute (CIS/ISCTE-IUL). This project intends to restore and preserve the Iberian Lynx habitat as well as the ecological corridors which connect the areas with suitable habitat conditions in Moura / Barrancos Site, through the promotion of short/medium term management measures and awareness raising actions towards the conservation of the Iberian Lynx and its habitat. This project has a foreseen duration of thirty nine months (October 2006 – December 2009), being co-financed in 75% by the European Commission LIFE – Nature Programme.
